Used the lapel microphone for a wedding. My Pastor's old microphone which cost ten times as much had a short. It was old but quality. He was pleased with the sound quality of this lapel. And he's a Shure man. The handheld is a solid microphone that's dependable. The sound being 4 instead of 5 stars is only a personal choice. The sound is clean and clear and strong but not pleasing without EQ work. With a little bit of EQ work it sounds fine. I use the handheld for the keyboard player who shouts instructions but doesn't sing. The microphone seems like it will be durable. I have been a sound man in secular work and churches for about a decade and a half. The Lapel rates excellent. The handheld rates good. I would prefer a nicer sounding microphone for lead vocalist, but this is rather perfect for a horn player who sings a little background. You take one input to the sound man. You clip the lapel on some foam or rubber on your horn so it doesn't rattle and put the handheld in your back pocket. When the song changes you pull the handheld out of your back pocket and get far enough away from the drums so you can hear the monitor. Is it a perfect setup with perfect sound. No. But trust me it will sound good and dependably clean. Can't sing in a band with the lapel microphone on your belly and expect to hear in the monitor. But on a horn player's bell, cool. The handheld in a band, cool. The handheld or lapel on drums or other instruments, cool.Pyle is a most entertaining crap shoot. About a decade ago they had a copy of the Beta 87 in a handheld. That microphone sounds great. It got discontinued quickly. This one sounds better than a PG48. Not as good as an SM58. Pyle has a wireless that sounds like a 57 but it's VHF and you don't want to move it much. They have one that looks like a 58 wireless but it's just way not. Overall I like pyle but please recognize that it's basically a knock off brand. It's not supposed to be on tour in arenas taking that abuse with a hundred different frequencies blocking you. For that you either need to spend ten times this much or use a microphone on a cord. If you are looking at this advertisement, this is probably the best you can do in this price range. There are a couple others that do a few things better. One in this price range that sounds great has a battery powered receiver that goes dead after 2 hours. Sounds great. Another handheld in this range that sounds great falls apart if dropped. For durability and sound, this is about as good as it gets in this price range. I personally stock those microphones that fall apart and tape them up before shows and carry spares. and the microphones that require receiver batteries and several others that don't sound as strong and clear. I have wireless microphones that I have to keep still on a stand and others that have to be positioned the right distance from the cymbals. I have a set of pyle wireless that sound make the kick drum and floor tom sound brilliant, muddy as hell on vocals. So when I say this particular lav rates excellent and I'd use it on my horn, it's good. When I say this handheld is clear and clean and strong but requires you EQ the channel, I don't say that idly. This is how I use these microphones. I've tried dozens of different styles of wireless some of which are junk. This is not junk. I don't love the way the handheld sounds and don't recommend it for a lead singer. The lapel microphone is worth the cost of the unit. By far. I purchased a second of these units that just has the lapel microphone for horn use because this lapel stays in my church now. I would not have purchased a second one unless I really liked it.I would buy the handhelds on sale because they're dependable. Through a concrete wall and around the building no dropouts. That's nice. Trust me the Lav is worth the unit. If you play a horn, it will work. If we ever get to do anything live again. Oh well. Keep our powder dry and be ready when the stage opens back up.
