Update: It's been almost 2 years and i'm still pretty happy with the performance. I do have a couple of complaints. 1) The mute button is finnicky and unreliable. And 2) the magnet came unglued from the charger connector on the headset base. The magnet is absolutely tiny was interfering with the charge pins connecting. It was an easy fix once I knew what was going on.One more thing you might want to consider- these don't travel well. I use them in my office all the time and they're great, but it would be real nice if I could take them along on business trips. Unfortunately to travel with these requires packing the huge base you see in the picture. I wish Sennheiser made a version of these with a USB dongle transmitter and a separate charger rather than a clunky base.Original review-I've been using this for about a month now to get a proper review written up. I work from a home office, and use a soft phone on my laptop quite frequently for both short conversations and many hours long conference calls. My previous headset was a Logitech bluetooth model, and I have come to the conclusion that bluetooth is not fit for office use. Bluetooth connections are just unreliable (if I had a dollar for every time I had to drop a call, reconnect and then resume the call...), have short range and are prone to interference issues. If you're talking with your friends or just want to listen to music, then by all means go bluetooth. But for business use it just isn't suitable. This headset has a USB connection between the base station and the computer, and it uses DECT between the base station and the headset. My laptop uses Windows 7, and there were zero issues getting my laptop to recognize the base-- it was true plug and play. Every time my laptop wakes up or boots up the headset is immediately ready for use. There are no more connection issues. I use Jabber for my softphone, and that has had zero issues working with the headset, which is also nice. The DECT connection has so far been 100% reliable, and the range is outstanding. Audio quality is just okay-- I think the mediocre audio quality is more a reflection of the limitations of the DECT than any limitations on the headphone speakers, though. It is perfectly fine for phone conversations, but I would not recommend these for music. This headset is not stereo (you will need to get bluetooth if you want a stereo headset), contrary to what other reviews have said. The microphone is good quality, and Sennheiser mics are supposed to have very good noise canceling capabilities. According to people on the other end of my calls everything sounds good on their end.For the intended purpose of this headset (making and receiving phone calls), I give it 5 stars. I would rate the comfort as good, but not great. The headsets cushions are comfortable enough and provide just the right amount of pressure on the head to stay on without being too tight, but after 45 minutes or so I start my ears start needing a break. Battery life is easily enough to last all day for me.If you want to listen to music as well as send/receive phone calls, your choices are either to buy a USB headset or a bluetooth headset. One solution is wired, while the other has poor range and reliability issues. At the moment there is no one wireless headset that is excellent at both making/receiving calls and playing music.
