My old Legend UC earpiece (bought as a deluxe bundle kit in 2016) started to have an issue this year where the microphone was having problems and I needed to get a replacement. Seeing a friend who had the new Voyager UC 5200, and seeing reviews on how they were -still- making -fresh- units of the original Voyager Legend UC in 2023, I took a chance and ordered one and was not disappointed. The positive:+ Even in 2023, stands above all others.+ Audio quality and noise cancellation is still top-notch. The noise cancellation on this unit is so good that it even cancels the annoying taps of my mechanical keyboard during meetings that people complain about compared to using other non-Plantronics (*cough*Jabra*cough*)units.+ My previous/original Voyager Legend UC ear piece lasted "only" seven years before needing replacement. Accessories from the original Voyager Legend UC still work.+ Separate answer/mute buttons. Rocker volume switch. There's also a presence sensor that detects if you have the unit clipped over your ear, but I ended up turning it off since I prefer the manual control.+ Comes with extra/different-sized ear buds (one of which I ended up using on the old unit since it still works for incoming audio). The negative:- Non-standard pogo-pins is a double-edged sword -- makes it more compact but means you can't recharge without the micro-USB adapter or desktop USB adapter (have not tried with the new Voyager 5200). Having the 89031-01 desktop USB adapter makes a huge difference in convenience (it makes it stand up and has a blue/red indicator showing that it's charging), though it doesn't seem to be in included with any of the current kits anymore.- It still costs almost 100$ for the basic unit with micro-USB adapter alone, even in 2023 -- that's almost halfway the cost to the over-the-ear Voyager Focus UC headset kit at around 200$ (I have one of these for work, it works extremely well and comes with both a desktop cradle and a nice carrying case for people on the go).- Included ear bud pieces still has a foam ring piece which is susceptible to breaking up over time, causing the earbud to fall out. In the 5200, it seems these were replaced with rubber rings. Though, as a long-term owner, it's still a good to see that "they make them how they used to".- Not supported by the current iOS/Android app. You need to use the PC app to adjust the settings (but it was never actually supported in the first place, being one of the first Voyager units).Other random comments:- As a long-time user of Plantronics, I'm glad to see that Plantronics/Poly still seems to standing behind their product and not compromising on quality. There was a recent Bluetooth security vulnerability about two years ago which they patched, despite the model being replaced by the 5200.- I'm a bit disappointed that they moved out of the low-end space, since I have a number of Marque M155 which worked extremely well and were probably worked TOO well at 30-40$ when compared to the competition.- It seems that Poly recently joined HP, so we will see how this goes....
